When approaching via the M74 from the south exit at Junction 14 and follow the signs to Leadhills. Travel alongside the Shortcleugh Water one of the many rivers used by the goldpanners to the village.
Travelling from the North exit the M74 at Junction 13 Abington and follow the Leadhills signs alongside Glengonner Water
From the East take the A702 to Abington and then follow the Leadhill signs as above.
If you are coming from the west get onto the A76 Dumfries to Kilmarnock road. Two mile south of Sanquhar the road to Leadhills (B797) is signed. Travel up the Mennock Pass alongside Mennock Water for the most spectacular approach to the village.
